Privacy Policy
Hi, we’re Pawscuit. This page explains, in plain language, what information we collect when you visit pawscuit.com, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We wrote it to actually be read — not just filed away — because trust is something we take seriously with every dog and cat parent who lands here looking for honest advice.
This policy is written to comply with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act). Under the Act, Pawscuit acts as the “Data Fiduciary” and you, as a visitor or reader, are the “Data Principal” — the person whose data we’re responsible for protecting.

Who We Are
Pawscuit (pawscuit.com) publishes expert-backed guides, breed comparisons, price guides, and product recommendations to help pet parents make better decisions for their dogs and cats. We’re not a pet store or a data broker — we’re a content team, and the only reason we collect any data at all is to run the site properly and respond to the people who write in.
What Information We Collect
Information you give us directly
- Your name and email address, if you fill out our contact form or leave a comment on an article.
- Any message content you send us through the contact form.
- Your email address, if you choose to subscribe to updates from us (only where such a signup is offered).
Information collected automatically
- Usage data — pages viewed, time on page, referring site, and general navigation behaviour, collected through Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager.
- Device and technical data — IP address, browser type, operating system, and screen size, used for security, spam prevention, and understanding how the site performs on different devices.
- Cookies — small text files described in detail below.
We do not collect sensitive personal data such as financial details, health records, or government ID numbers. We don’t need them to write about dog breeds and cat care, so we don’t ask for them.
How We Use Your Information
We use the data described above to:
- Reply to your messages and comments.
- Understand which articles are genuinely useful (and which aren’t) so we can improve what we publish.
- Detect spam, abuse, and security issues.
- Meet our legal and regulatory obligations.
We do not use your personal data to build advertising profiles beyond the standard analytics described below, and we never sell your personal data to anyone.
Cookies and Analytics
Like almost every website, we use cookies — small files stored in your browser. Here’s exactly what they do on Pawscuit:
- Essential cookies — needed for the site to function (e.g., remembering your comment details if you opt in, so you don’t retype them next time).
- Analytics cookies (Google Analytics / Google Tag Manager) — help us see aggregate traffic patterns. This data is anonymized/pseudonymized where possible and is used only to improve the site.
- Gravatar — if you comment, a hashed version of your email may be checked against Gravatar to display your profile picture. Gravatar’s own privacy policy is at automattic.com/privacy.
You can disable cookies at any time through your browser settings. Doing so won’t stop you from reading articles, but some convenience features (like saved comment details) won’t work.
Affiliate Links and Advertising
Some articles on Pawscuit include affiliate links or product recommendations. If you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This never affects our editorial opinion — we recommend products because we think they’re genuinely useful for your pet, not because of the commission. Where we run display advertising, our ad partners may use cookies to serve relevant ads; you can manage ad personalization through your browser or device settings and Google’s Ad Settings.
How We Share Your Information
We share data only with the service providers that help us run the site, and only to the extent needed:
- Google (Analytics, Tag Manager, Site Kit) — for site analytics.
- Our hosting provider — to store and serve the site securely.
- Gravatar/Automattic — for comment profile pictures, only if you comment.
- Legal authorities — only if required by Indian law or a valid legal process.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Data Retention
We keep contact form submissions and comments for as long as needed to respond to you and maintain the record of the conversation, or until you ask us to delete them. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics’ standard retention settings. If you request deletion, we’ll remove your personal data unless we’re legally required to keep it (for example, for fraud prevention or legal compliance).
Data Security
We use industry-standard measures — including HTTPS encryption and access controls on our hosting and WordPress admin — to protect the data we hold. No online system is 100% risk-free, but we treat your data with the same care we’d want for our own.
Children’s Privacy
Pawscuit is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed at children. In line with the DPDP Act’s provisions on children’s data, we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18 without verifiable parental or guardian consent. If you believe a child has submitted personal data to us, contact us using the details below and we’ll remove it promptly.
Your Rights Under the DPDP Act, 2023
As a Data Principal, you have the right to:
- Access a summary of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct or update inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Erase your personal data, once it’s no longer needed for the purpose it was collected.
- Withdraw consent at any time, as easily as you gave it.
- Nominate another individual to exercise these rights on your behalf in the event of death or incapacity.
- Raise a grievance with us directly, and escalate to the Data Protection Board of India if you’re not satisfied with our response.
To exercise any of these rights, email us using the contact details below. We aim to respond within 30 days.

Cross-Border Data Transfer
Some of our service providers (such as Google) may process data on servers located outside India. Where this happens, we rely on providers that maintain appropriate security and privacy safeguards consistent with applicable law.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as our site, tools, or the law changes. When we do, we’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to revisit this page occasionally, especially if you’ve shared data with us before.
